“In my early professional years, I was asking the question:

How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?"

Carl Rogers

How I work

As your counsellor, I can provide you with a confidential, private, and compassionate space in which you feel safe to explore feelings that you are finding painful or distressing.

It is my role in our counselling relationship to support you where you are going, not to lead you in a specific direction. I do believe that each and everyone of us is unique and I will talk to you to find out what you want from counselling.

I am always mindful that you are the expert in your own life, and I know that the most important part of therapy is the therapeutic relationship that we build together.

This bond that we create within the therapy room is, I believe, what enables the healing part of the therapeutic process to take place.

Together we will create a safe space in which you will be able to explore your feelings without fear of judgement.

The journey might sometimes be challenging and difficult, but if it brings you to a place of contentment, understanding, self-awareness, and peace of mind, then I hope you feel it will be worth it.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, and are generally weekly to ensure a strong therapeutic alliance is established.

Therapy can be either short or long term.  Short term therapy usually lasts for around 6-8 sessions, and usually focuses on one particular issue that you would like to explore and work through.

Long term therapy can continue for as long as you feel that you need the support of the therapeutic alliance.

Whatever you decide, we can discuss it openly and honestly and work through it together.

I understand life is busy and professional commitments and personal responsibilities can mean it is not always possible to attend a regular appointment slot. I will always try to accommodate your needs, so please get in touch to discuss your individual requirements.
